Best of the Best: Permafrost and Stokke win prestigious, international design award

Best of the Best: Permafrost and Stokke win prestigious, international design award

A team of designers from Permafrost and engineers from Stokke, led by Stokke design manager Anders August Kittilsen, has been honoured with the Red Dot: Best of the Best award for the Stokke® Clikk™ High Chair. The Red Dot design award is the world’s largest and most recognized product design competition, and the Red Dot: Best of the Best is their highest distinction.

This year’s Red Dot: Best of the Best award completes a hat trick for the combined efforts of Permafrost and Stokke: The Stokke® Steps™ seating system (2015) and the Stokke® Trailz™ stroller (previously Stokke® Crusi™, 2014) have also been named Red Dot: Best of the Best.

For Permafrost, this year’s award is the fourth Red Dot: Best of the Best distinction, as Permafrost also has been involved with the design of the Cisco Spark Board which was named Red Dot: Best of the Best in 2017. This puts Permafrost in the very exclusive company of only a handful of design studios having won at least four Red Dot: Best of the Best awards.

Permafrost designs new colors and patterns for the Stokke Steps seating system

Permafrost designs new colors and patterns for the Stokke Steps seating system

Norwegian baby brand Stokke has launched new colors and customization for their Stokke Steps modular seating system. The new range of color options and patterns has been developed together with Permafrost, and comprises a versatile and contemporary palette designed to fit in anywhere.

New color options include a sophisticated black chair seat, baby set and tray, a cute pink baby set, fabrics in pink and a custom-made grey cloud pattern, as well as legs in whitewash, grey, natural or black. The possibilities for customization are virtually endless, ranging from a sleek, monochrome chair in all black to a playful pink, white and whitewash combination.

The highly adaptable and user-friendly Stokke Steps seating system was designed by Permafrost in collaboration with the Stokke design team and launched in 2014. A comprehensive, user-centric design process resulted in a modular chair that can grow with the child from birth throughout childhood, integrating a strong focus on ergonomics and functionality with a clean and modern look.

For their combined efforts in designing the Stokke Steps seating system, Permafrost and Stokke were awarded the prestigious Red Dot: Best of the Best award in 2015.

Best of the Best: Stokke Crusi wins prominent international design award

Best of the Best: Stokke Crusi wins prominent international design award

The Bazooka Goal has been honoured with a red dot design award! This award is one of the world’s largest and most commonly recognised design competitions, so we’d like to think we’re in good company.

The Bazooka Goal is the world’s most compact solid frame folding goal. Carrying, handling and assembling is made easy through a lightweight telescopic design. Its patented construction includes a pair of heavy-duty coil springs, allowing the goal to flex with seemingly careless ease when the ball hits the crossbar.

Our involvement in the projects extends from designing and engineering the iconic product itself to sorting out the logo and visual identity.

Permafrost designs next generation seating system for Stokke

Permafrost designs next generation seating system for Stokke

Leading Norwegian baby brand Stokke selected Permafrost for the task of designing its newest children’s seating system. The result is a highly versatile and user-friendly modular system that accommodates children’s seating needs from birth all the way through childhood.

The new products will be introduced alongside Stokke’s iconic Tripp Trapp chair, further strengthening Stokkes’s position as a leader in ergonomic children’s seating.

Named Stokke Steps, the new seating system consists of a baby bouncer that forms an infant recliner when attached to the chair; a toddler module that creates a safe and functional highchair; and the chair module itself with its versatile and adjustable construction.

The final design is the result of an extensive process of user testing and refinement, aiming to combine intuitive handling, user-friendly ergonomics and a visually appealing exterior. It is the perfect marriage between art and technology, employing modern day materials and an innovative construction to achieve a fundamentally user-centric product.

Permafrost designs two new strollers for Stokke

Permafrost designs two new strollers for Stokke

Leading Norwegian baby brand Stokke has just released two new, innovative strollers designed in collaboration with Permafrost. The two strollers have been developed simultaneously, and they share an obvious family likeness in construction, in use of materials, and in some carefully crafted, iconic details.

The largest stroller is the Stokke Crusi, featuring a full-sized, padded carrycot that can be replaced with a regular seat as the child grows older. The Stokke Scoot is the lightweight smaller sibling; easy to handle with four different seating and sleeping positions built into in one seat.

Both strollers maintain the Stokke signature of high, parent-facing seats, facilitating a closer connection between parent and child.
