Terms & Conditions

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please read these terms carefully before you order. By placing an order in our webshop you accept them. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under mandatory consumer law. Last updated: 19 October 2026.
The terms in short
- The seller is Permafrost Design AS (org. no. 981 311 418 MVA), Oslo, Norway. The shop trades as stories by permafrost at permafrost.no.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or have a guardian’s permission, to buy from us.
- The price shown at checkout is the total price, including shipping, before you pay. Prices to customers in Norway include 25% VAT.
- You have a 14-day right to withdraw from your purchase (return period). You pay the cost of returning the goods.
- Consumers in Norway and the EEA have a statutory complaint period of 2 years for faulty goods (5 years for goods intended to last significantly longer).
- We do not sell or ship to Russia or Belarus.
- Customers outside Norway are responsible for import VAT, customs duties and fees charged in their country.
How to make a purchase
You can shop as a guest, using only your e-mail address and delivery details, or create a customer account. Orders made as a guest are still registered on your e-mail address, so you can create a profile later and see earlier orders.
Choose a product and add it to the cart. Check the cart, enter any discount code or gift card code before you go to checkout, check that name, address and e-mail address are correct, choose a payment method and confirm the order. You will receive an order confirmation by e-mail.
TERMS OF SALE (CONSUMERS)
These terms apply to purchases by consumers, that is, private individuals buying for purposes outside their trade or profession. Consumer purchases over the internet in Norway are mainly regulated by the Norwegian Contracts Act, the Consumer Purchases Act, the Right of Withdrawal Act, the E-Commerce Act and the Marketing Control Act. These laws give consumers rights that cannot be limited by agreement. They are available at lovdata.no. If you live in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country continue to apply to you, and nothing here limits them. Business customers: see the terms for business customers further down the page.
1. The seller
Permafrost Design AS, org. no. 981 311 418 MVA
St. Halvards Gate 33A, 0192 Oslo, Norway
E-mail: stories@permafrost.no (the shop) or mail@permafrost.no
Telephone: +47 23 24 04 50
Below, “we”, “us” and “Permafrost” mean Permafrost Design AS. “You” and “the buyer” mean the consumer who places the order.
2. The agreement
The agreement consists of these terms, the information given in the order process and any terms specifically agreed. If these conflict, what has been specifically agreed applies, as long as it does not conflict with mandatory law. The agreement is supplemented by the statutory rules that regulate sales of goods to consumers.
3. Prices and taxes
The price shown for the goods, together with the shipping cost and any fees, is the total price you must pay. All prices are in Norwegian kroner (NOK). The total is shown before you confirm the order, and we do not charge costs that were not shown to you before the purchase.
Customers in Norway: prices include 25% VAT.
Customers outside Norway: goods are shipped from Norway. Import VAT, customs duties, taxes and handling fees charged by the destination country, the carrier or customs authorities are not included unless the checkout says so, and are the buyer’s responsibility. We have no control over local customs offices. Check the rules in your country before you order. For orders to the USA, the buyer is the importer of record.
4. Entering into the agreement
The agreement is binding on both parties when we have confirmed your order. The agreement is not binding if there is an obvious error in the offer or in your order, for example a typing error in a price, and the other party knew or ought to have known about the error. If a product is sold out, we may cancel the order and will refund everything you have paid without delay. We will tell you about equivalent products if we have any.
5. Payment
You can pay with the payment methods shown at checkout:
- Card and wallet payments through Stripe. You pay on a secure Stripe payment form; your card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by us.
- Vipps (customers in Norway). Follow the instructions in the Vipps app. The amount is reserved when you confirm the order and charged when the order is sent. Vipps requires a smartphone with the Vipps app and a user account.
The goods remain ours until they are paid in full. Please read the terms of the payment provider you choose; it is responsible for handling the transaction.
6. Delivery
Shipping cost is shown at checkout before you pay. At the time of writing: for wooden toys NOK 79 within Norway, NOK 250 within Europe and NOK 350 to other countries; rugs are shipped free of charge.
Estimated delivery time from when the order has been paid: Norway 3–4 working days, EU and the rest of Europe 3–7 working days, other countries 5–9 working days. These are estimates. We send the goods without undue delay, normally within 1–3 working days and in any case no later than 14 days after the order, unless we have agreed otherwise. Orders are shipped with Posten Norge or another carrier we choose, and you will receive a tracking number by e-mail.
The risk for the goods passes to you when you or someone you have named, other than the carrier, has received them. If a parcel is not collected from the pick-up point within the deadline, we may charge a handling fee to cover return shipping and administration costs.
If we have not delivered within the agreed time, you can set a reasonable additional deadline. If the deadline is not met, you can cancel the purchase and get your money back. If the parcel is lost or damaged in transport, contact us without delay (see section 10).
7. Right of withdrawal
When you buy from us as a consumer you have a 14-day right of withdrawal without giving a reason. The period starts when you (or someone you have named, other than the carrier) receive the goods. For orders with several goods delivered separately, it starts when you receive the last one.
How to withdraw. Tell us clearly that you want to withdraw, within the 14 days, by e-mail to stories@permafrost.no or by post to the address above. You can use the form below, but you do not have to. Include your name, address and order number.
Returning the goods. Send the goods back to us without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you told us you were withdrawing. The goods must be returned in the original packaging and, as far as possible, in the same condition and quantity as you received them. You pay the cost of returning the goods. Please mark packages sent from abroad “RETURNED GOODS” to avoid customs charges; any customs charges on returns are your responsibility. Keep proof of postage.
Refund. We refund everything you have paid, including the standard shipping cost, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we received your notice of withdrawal. We may wait with the refund until we have received the goods or you have shown that you have sent them back. The refund is made with the same payment method you used, unless you agree otherwise.
Reduced value. If the goods have been used more than necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and function, we may deduct the reduction in value from the refund.
Exceptions. The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised, or to other goods excluded by law. We tell you before the purchase if a product is excluded.
Customers outside Norway and the EEA. If the law of your country does not give you a right of withdrawal (for example in the USA), we give you the same 14-day return right as a voluntary service, on the same terms as above (including that you pay the return shipping).
Model withdrawal form (complete and return only if you wish to withdraw):

- You can return the goods within 14 days of receiving them (see section 7).
- The goods must be returned in their packaging and in unused condition.
- The customer pays the return shipping. We do not offer exchanges, but you can place a new order.
- Refunds are made within 14 days after we received your notice of withdrawal; we may wait until we have the goods or proof of postage.
9. Faulty goods and complaints
Customers in Norway and the EEA. You have the rights given by the Consumer Purchases Act (and, in other EEA countries, the national law implementing the EU Sale of Goods Directive). The complaint period is 2 years from delivery, and 5 years for goods intended to last significantly longer. You must complain within a reasonable time after you discovered or should have discovered the defect; a complaint within two months of discovering it is always in time. If the goods are faulty we will, as you choose, repair or replace them if that is possible without unreasonable cost; otherwise you can claim a price reduction or cancel the purchase. We pay the costs of repair, replacement and return of faulty goods. We reply to complaints within a reasonable time and normally within 14 days.
Customers in other countries. We give a limited warranty of 1 year from delivery against defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, normal wear and tear, or repairs or changes made by others. We will repair or replace the goods or refund the price, at our choice. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary by country or state; it does not limit any rights you have under mandatory law.
To complain, contact stories@permafrost.no with your name, order number, a description of the defect and, if possible, photos.
10. Wrong delivery, transport damage and missing parcels
If you receive the wrong goods or something is missing, tell us at stories@permafrost.no as soon as possible, preferably with photos, and we will correct it. If the goods are damaged in transport, report it to us at once, with photos. If you collect a parcel from a pick-up point, report visible damage to the carrier on the spot. If a parcel is missing or the tracking has stopped, contact us and we will investigate with the carrier and either find the parcel or send a new one.
11. Force majeure
Events outside our reasonable control that we could not foresee, such as war, government action, new legislation, embargo, fire, flood, natural disaster, strikes or failure of suppliers, release us from our obligations for as long as the event lasts. If the delay exceeds 30 days, you can cancel the purchase and get your money back.
12. Countries we deliver to, sanctions and export controls
We deliver only to the countries offered at checkout. We do not sell or deliver to Russia or Belarus, and we may refuse or cancel orders where delivery would be contrary to sanctions, export controls or other applicable law, with a full refund.
13. Complaints and disputes
Complaints should be sent to us within a reasonable time, and we will try to solve any disagreement amicably. If we cannot agree, consumers in Norway can contact the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet, forbrukerradet.no, tel. +47 23 400 500) for mediation, and we follow the decisions of the Norwegian Consumer Disputes Commission (Forbrukerklageutvalget). Consumers in other EEA countries can get help from the European Consumer Centre Norway (forbrukereuropa.no). The Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) supervises compliance with consumer law.
14. Governing law
The agreement is governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a dispute before the courts of your country of residence.
15. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The terms in force when you place your order apply to your order. We may correct obvious errors in product information, prices and stock status at any time.
